Ciao a tutti!
Hi everyone!
These days there’s a lot of talk about Yuzuru Hanyu who skates on the notes of the opening theme song of Neon Genesis Evangelion, “Cruel Angel’s Thesis” and I remember when, right after his first Olympic victory in Sochi 2014, his fame literally exploded and all around the web spread a lot of images that emphasized his resemblance, real or alleged, with the main character of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shinji Ikari.
So, I decided to bring to light an AnimeClick article of those days, which was about this topic and made Italian anime and manga fans to know about Yuzuru Hanyu.
AnimeClick is a portal entirely dedicated to Japan, japanese videogames and dramas and, above all, anime and manga.
The article I am going to translate is THIS, which is taken from this other article, in English, published on AnimeNewsNetwork.
I want to thank Sunako Sato who made me read this article.

A similar “photoshopped” image has been circulating on the Internet since before the end of the Olympic competition, prompting Shinji’s voice actress Megumi Ogata to post her own comment on Twitter. |
[ElenaC:
I believe this is the image the article is talking about, it’s one of the first that spread on the web in those days.]
Sorry, I don’t know this image’s source.
… And this is Megumi Ogata’s comment on twitter. She wrote that she fully agreed with a tweet she had previously read, which said that if Yuzuru had someday skated on the notes of Cruel Angel’s Thesis wearing the plug suit everyone would have started crying (she meant for joy and emotion!).]

Yukito Ayatsuji, the author of the light novel “Another” (from which the same title anime was inspired), talked about Hanyu on Twitter, admitting that he had little interest in figure skating before the Olympics. He added that he might like to turn that “cute-looking boy” into a character of one of his novels — Satsujinki (Diabolic Killer). Jokingly he said that “Satsujinki: Winter Sports Edition” would have many lethal weapons at its disposal. |

One more thing: At that time, the anime character designer Masami Obari predicted that there was going to be an avalanche of figure-skating anime proposals.]

Takumi, winner of Weekly Shonen Jump’s one-time award as new artist, as well as a member of pixiv, designed Hanyu (and his tissue box) in the style of the “Bizarre adventures of Jojo” (Jojo no kimyō na bōken), the famous work of Hirohiko Araki. Also Kousuke Fujishima (Oh, My Goddess!) sketched a portrait of Hanyu with the fude pen.Other fans in Japan and around the world are having fun making creations using Photoshop, including the “Hyōjō no Prince-sama” (Prince-sama on Ice) version, and many more. |

To conclude …
Many of the comments under the article, summarizing, say that Yuzuru is very cute, a really good-looking boy, and many of these people have discovered Figure Skating just seeing him skate in Sochi. Many also say that Yuzu is definitely better than Shinji, because he is smiling and he is a winner.
A presto, ciao ciao!
These days some expectations of that time have come true and “Yuzurino” (in Italian it means… cute, little Yuzuru) has finally skated with the music of Evangelion.
I hope it has been pleasant for you to read or reread an article from 2014.
(Sorry for my broken English )
See you soon, bye bye!]
He also looks G Dragon which is apparently a very good way to look.
Do you mean G Dragon the korean singer-rapper etc? Do you think Yuzu looks like him? Oh, I didn’t know about him! ^__^
